SPRING PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

The Spring Acting Workshop is a chance for young performers to
practice and develop their acting skills and showcase them in a patriotic-
themed production for the community at the conclusion of the Broadview
Heights Memorial Day Parade on May 31.  Participants should be in
Grades 4 – 9.  The class is led by Tim Anderson, Education Director for
the Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater, and will focus on the skills of
movement, projection, inflection, and character development.  
Participation in the performance is required.  

The class will meet at the Broadview Heights Cultural Arts Building,
Home of the Spotlights (next to the Broadview Heights Police
Department).  

Register at the Broadview Heights Recreation Center.  Register at the
Broadview Heights Recreation Center.  

Fees:
$50 per child for members of the Recreation Center
$60 per child for residents of Broadview Heights
$70 per child for non-residents.

SUMMER YOUTH TRAVELING TROUPE

and other scheduled performances in the month of July

The Summer Youth Traveling Troupe is a unique educational program
designed for experienced performers to refine their acting skills and
showcase them in several free-admission performances for the
community, including the Broadview Heights Home Days (July 8 – 11).  
Students in grades 4 - 9 will learn about how to analyze a script, develop
a character, and other advanced acting skills while they prepare a
traveling production. Members of the troupe will rehearse throughout the
month June with performances of "Aesop's Fables" at various venues in
the month of July.  

A list of performance dates and locations will be available and
performance travel arrangements will be discussed at a parent meeting
at the first session on June 8.  

The class will meet at the Broadview Heights Cultural Arts Building,
Home of the Spotlights (next to the Broadview Heights Police
Department).  

Previous enrollment in Theater Camp and/or prior performance
experience is required.

Annual Summer Youth Production
THEATER CAMP

Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 3:00PM
August 2 - 6, 2010

Theater Camp is a one-week recreational camp that serves as an
introduction to the various aspects of theater.   Designed for children in
Grades 1 through 6 (as of 09/09), campers participated in fun, age-
appropriate activities in the areas of acting, music, and dance/movement.
No experience is necessary.  Swim-time is included.

The instruction is provided by experienced teachers, aided by volunteers
from the Broadview Heights Spotlights community theater.  High School
students may participate as interns (there is no fee for interns, but a
registration must be completed).  The camp will culminate with a
production of "Disney’s 101 Dalmatians", which will showcase the skills
that the children develop throughout the week.  Participation in the
production is expected.  

The camp is held at the Broadview Heights Cultural Arts Building, Home
of the Spotlights (next to the Broadview Heights Police Department).  

Register at the Broadview Heights Recreation Center. Please make note
of the activity number when registering.

Fees:
$125 per child for members of the Recreation Center
$135 per child for residents of Broadview Heights
$145 per child for non-residents.
(Deduct $10 for each additional child in the same family.)

Each participant will receive two complimentary tickets to the closing
show.  

Two scholarships (based on need) will be offered by the Broadview
Heights Spotlights Community Theater. Applications for "economic-
based scholarships" may be obtained at the Human Services
Department.

After-care can be arranged through the Recreation Department.
