Theater Camp (Grades 1 – 6 (completed))
Theater Camp is a one-week, performance-based camp that serves as an
introduction to musical theater. Designed for children who have completed Grades 1
through 6, the camp is carefully articulated so that returning campers develop their
performance skills by participating in fun, age-appropriate activities in the areas of
acting, music, and dance/movement. During craft time, students work on projects that
serve as costumes, props, and scenery for the production. The instruction is provided
by experienced teachers, aided by teenage volunteer interns. Roles are cast on the
first day of camp at the discretion of the directing team and announced at Monday’s
pickup. There is no appeal process for casting decisions. No experience is necessary.
Swim-time is included.

The camp culminates with two performances of
Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka KIDS on
Friday evening. Participation in the production is required.  Each participant will receive
two complimentary tickets for either performance. Additional tickets may be purchased
during camp.

Camper packets containing scripts and music will be available for pick up the week
prior to camp.

Two scholarships (based on need) will be offered by the Broadview Heights Spotlights
Community Theater. Applications for "economic-based scholarships" may be obtained
at the Human Services Department. After-care can be arranged through the Recreation
Department. Space is limited. Register early.
