Mission Statement

To create a unique, intergenerational theater that would work closely with the
city to enhance its events and foster a new awareness of, and opportunities in
the performing arts for the community of Broadview Heights as well as the
Greater Cleveland area.

History

The Broadview Heights Spotlights, a non-profit corporation, was conceived
and founded in June of 1998. Through a publicity campaign, sponsorships
were acquired for initial start-up expenses and the kick-off event was held in
October of that year. The theater produced its first show in December 1998.

In November 2003, the City Council passed a lease of a building on the
Broadview Center campus. It became known as the Cultural Arts Building -
Home of the Broadview Heights Spotlights. The building (which was built in
1972 and has 7371 square feet) underwent remodeling by volunteers. The
vacant, former group-home was transformed into a functional facility
containing ordinance granting the Spotlights a long-term, low-cost lease of a
building on the Broadview Center campus. It became known as the Cultural
Arts Building - Home of the Broadview Heights Spotlights. The building (which
was built in 1972 and has 7371 square feet) underwent remodeling by
volunteers. The vacant, former group-home was transformed into a functional
facility containing classrooms, an art gallery, storage rooms, and performance
studio.

The group prides itself on originality and offers a variety of activities for all
ages. Musicals, comedies, dramas, and concerts grace the stage of the
performance studio. Classes and outdoor theatrical events are also offered.

The Spotlights would like to thank everyone for their support of its efforts to
enhance cultural awareness in the Broadview Heights community.

What Makes Spotlights Unique?

CABARET SERIES
Started in 2010, our Cabaret Series will feature unique performances from
local artists between our main stage shows.

COFFEE HOUSE
Enjoy the social ambiance of a coffeehouse style intermission with delicious
coffee and desserts separating the wonderful plays you will see.

THEATER CAMP
Theater Camp is a recreational program with a theater focus. The purpose is
to introduce grade-school age children to the performing arts through fun,
age-appropriate activities. No experience is necessary. It is held the first week
of August each year.

THE ENCHANTED HOLLOW
The Enchanted Hollow was created by the Broadview Heights Spotlights
Community Theater to offer a non-scary, child-friendly alternative during the
Halloween season. Guests of the Hollow are guided along a meandering
nature trail, where they will encounter various skits performed by the
Spotlights’ players.

COSTUMED CAROLERS
The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater is pleased to present
its annual holiday favorite, the Spotlights Costumed Carolers. The
harmonious, Dickens-esque carolers are ready to entertain at your next
Christmas function.
